LAGOON
KOTYCHI

Together, Strofilia Forest and Kotychi Lagoon are one of the eleven protected wetlands in Greece. Kotychi Lagoon is perhaps the most important wetland in the Peloponnese, and it’s certainly the largest, stretching across approximately 7500 acres. It’s located northeast of the town of Lechaina and is noted for its abundant diversity of fish life, as well as for acting as a natural fish farm. It is a breeding ground for a variety of migratory birds as well. Its natural beauty, particularly splendid in spring and autumn, is a treat for visitors.
