LAGOON
PROKOPOS

Prokopos Lagoon, fed by two rivers, is located in the shadow of the imposing Black Mountains and extends to the Lamia Marsh. Also known as Strofilia Lagoon, it covers an area of 1500 acres and lies between the sea and the forest. The dunes that surround it have helped form a lake that is both a natural breeding ground for fish and a refuge for aquatic birds. Because of this important avian presence, it also has a bird observatory.
