WET
MEADOWS

Wet meadows are open lakeside stretches covered with low vegetation; they flood in the winter and dry up in the summer. They play host to rarely seen species of birds, such as little terns and the collared pratincole. From the summer into the first months of autumn, an impressive scene awaits the visitor: salicornia plants in the water create a bright red veil that gradually gives way to the surrounding greenery, integrating itself into the rest of the environment.
